Bias Report #10,349

‘Duck Dynasty’ returns to big ratings drop.

This was the big bold headline on USATODAY and many other news feeds.

“It looks like Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson’s anti-gay sentiments and the controversy they created may have had a serious effect on viewers after all.”  This was the first paragraph.

“The Season 5 premiere on Wednesday of the A&E reality show drew 8.5 million viewers, down sharply from the nearly 12 million that tuned in for the Season 4 opener in August.”

Oh, wait a minute: There is a disclaimer to be FAIR: ” Despite the decline, that’s still a healthy number, but industry experts expected to see the same viewership as before, if not better. To be fair, last winter’s premiere of the show drew 8.6 million viewers.

Wait, what was that?  The ratings for the premier of January 2013 was 8.6 million and January 2014 was 8.5 million, not 12 million?  That is the real BIG RATINGS DROP, 8.6 to 8.5?

Can you spell “Bias” news agencies?  I don’t expect you to agree with this show or even like it.  That is your right.  But can we, the public, get honest and level reporting from anyone?
