Global Warming

I like logic – I was a philosophy major (yes it pays REALLY WELL!)

Let’s take a brief look at global warming.  The same scientists that say it is warming say the earth is 4.54 billion years.  Okay, let’s go with that.   We know a little about previous ice ages etc but most of our scientific monitoring has been in the last 100 years (right?).  And the climate change has been during that period due to carbon caused by the industrial revolution.

So we are to be alarmed by change in a window of 100 years out of 4.54 billion.

Isn’t that like Bill Gates loosing $100 and worrying that he is going broke and finding a way to prevent it from happening again?

Bill Gates responded to this by flying around the globe in his personal jet  –  No carbon emissions there!  billgates2

We can’t keep pumping all that carbon into the atmosphere without something eventually happening.

We may disagree about exactly what will happen (heating Vs cooling), but for sure, something is going to happen.

And if we don’t know exactly how bad this “something” is going to be, doesn’t it make sense to stop pumping all that carbon into our air?

It’s a bit like kicking a dog. You know it’s going to do something in response to your unwelcome kicking, but you have absolutely no idea what it will be. So why do it.

Politicians and those controlling the mega wealth are the only ones who can implement appropriate action, but they won’t. Their agendas and other interests lure them away from listening to advice from the experts.

This cartoon looks at that aspect . . . .
