Leave the kids alone

There is one moral rule in politics (yes, only one).  Don’t pick on the children.  I’m sure you heard the fury over the twitter jabs at the Obama girl’s clothing last week.  A Republican staff member lost her job over it.

Look, I don’t like politics and I don’t like the rules (or the lack of them).  I don’t like the lies and attacks but I guess it’s all part of the game.  But I agree with the rule – don’t go after the kids.  It’s not their fault that their dad or mom chose this life and they shouldn’t be brought into the nastiness of it.

So . . . I agree with the left wing media this time – shame on you Elizabeth Lauten for cutting on the girls.  BUT, you the left wing media, did blow it by bringing up a couple Republicans that picked on Chelsea Clinton but FORGETTING to mention Saturday Night Live making fun of poor Chelsea for her looks.  Oh my!  Yes, it was in a Wayne’s World skit that was quickly removed from ever showing again.  NBC!  Oh, my!  That would never happen today.

Oh, one more thing.  I guess it was ok to attack the Palin kids because she wasn’t elected.  She was a Governor though and they are kids.  They too should have been protected.  I wonder what would have happened if she was elected?  Would the left wing media change the rule?
